Hot daytime weather is likely to prevail over the weekend, especially in the central areas where the maximum temperature may reach the mid-40C levels, the Qatar Met department tweeted yesterday. The weather office also said strong winds, dust and low visibility are expected in the country from Sunday night until Tuesday. The Met department has urged people to be cautious and avoid venturing into the sea during this period, and also to follow the latest updates through its various official social media accounts. In a report yesterday, the department said weather charts indicated that fresh to strong northwesterly winds with speeds ranging from 15-25 knots, and gusts reaching 30 knots at times, were expected to affect the country between Sunday night and Tuesday. The windy conditions are likely to raise dust, leading to a drop in visibility to below 2km at times in some areas as well as high waves ranging between 6ft and 8ft, reaching a high of 10ft in the north. Today’s forecast says it will be hazy in some places at first, followed by hot daytime conditions and slight dust. Offshore, slightly dusty conditions and some clouds are likely. A maximum temperature of 42C is expected today in Mesaieed and Wakrah, followed by 41C in Doha and Al Khor. Yesterday, the maximum was 42C in Al Rayyan and Mesaieed, while in Doha it was 41C. (Source)
