Teach For Qatar (TFQ) has issued a last call for fresh graduates and young professionals to apply to join their first cohort of teaching Fellows by the final deadline of May 10th.

The local NGO works to re-invest exceptionally talented young people in the public education system to help meet some of Qatar’s most pressing education needs. TFQ, which launched in March 2014, is seeking Qatar’s top graduates who are recognized academically and demonstrate key leadership skills both inside and outside the classroom.

TFQ also encourages young professionals with less than four years’ work experience who have proven their ability to be creative, inspiring role models at their jobs. While applicants must be bilingual in Arabic and English, participation is open to both Qatari nationals and expatriate residents.

“We are delighted with the interest from Qatar’s finest young leaders who are looking to give back to this country. With over 200 applications already received, we are calling on all those who fit the criteria to do their part in closing Qatar’s education gap,” said Mohammed Fakhroo, CEO of Teach For Qatar.

Fellows who pass the selection process will receive intensive training at TFQ’s Summer Institute, after which they begin their full-time teaching jobs for a period of two-years in one of Qatar’s independent schools. Initially, Fellows will be teaching English, Math and Science to 7th and 8th graders and will receive ongoing support and mentorship from TFQ’s team of experts throughout their two-year teaching placement.

Fakhroo continued, “TFQ has a highly-selective recruitment process, which ensures only those with pre-acquired leadership skills, in-depth knowledge of their subject areas, and a passion for developing others are enrolled in the program.”

TFQ is part of a broader initiative by HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani to develop innovative solutions to Qatar’s education challenges. The organisation has partnered with 11 independent schools in Doha so far, who will be receiving TFQ Fellows at the beginning of the 2014-15 academic year.

As a member of Teach For All, TFQ benefits from over 19 years of research on recruitment methods and leadership development that have been tailored to Qatar’s context.

Informational booths are currently at Hamad bin Khalifa University’s Student Centre and Qatar University. To apply for Teach For Qatar visit: http://teachforqatar.org/en/apply
