The Syrian Community in Qatar organised a rally yesterday afternoon beside the Qatar Sports Club (QSC) to draw the attention of the world community to the flagrant violation of human rights in Syria. The rally continued for about two hours from 3pm.
The highly agitated crowd wanted to convey a message to the world community that the killing machine in Syria must stop immediately. In the midst of slogans and furious chants demanding the ouster of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, many Syrians expressed their condemnation of the world’s powerlessness in front of the “Syrian assassin”.
“Tangible procedures must be considered in response to the Syrian tyranny. Chants and rallies are not enough to help the Syrian nation. Syrians need urgent provisions and medical supplies, especially in the affected areas, including Homs and its suburbs. The Free Syrian Army needs support and sanctions against Damascus must be tightened,” one of the participants said.
“The Arab Nation owes us the right of support. Those who are betting on the Syrian people are on the straight path. Otherwise, they are losers.
“The National Council and the Arab countries should ask the UN to issue a decision that condemns Damascus. Consequently, a bloc can be formed to advocate the Syrian Revolution and the Free Syrian Army.”
“The Russian and Chinese veto has not let us down. On the contrary, we have not expected their support. We depend on ourselves to attain victory. The veto does not humiliate the Syrian nation. However, it humiliates the Russian and Chinese nations,” the protesters said.
The demonstrators highly praised the Qatari role in supporting the Syrian people. They carried the Syrian flags hand in hand with the Qatari flags. Also, they carried the pictures of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani. In contrast, they carried caricatures mocking Bashar al-Assad. Pictures of the victims were also carried by the marchers.
