Saving the environment is one of the biggest challenge that the government of Qatar is facing currently. However, any progress towards this mammoth task is impossible without active participation by the residents of this rapidly developing country.
As a part of a grand challenge, project on Water Conservation and Demand Management the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI) collaborated with the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS) to conduct the environmental surveys in assessing public’s opinion about various environmental issues and how can the situation be improved from a policy perspective.
The survey is addressing the climate change, global environmental politics, role of citizens/government/industries in protecting the environment. The results of the this survey will result in total understanding of the people’s attitude towards local-to-global, public-to-private, environmental issues, perceptions, beliefs, and attitudes.
Click here to participate in the survey and ten lucky winners will get 200 QR voucher to use in Virgin Megastore, Qatar.
Human and economic development and the protection of the environment are competing demands that must be reconciled with each other. Nevertheless, Qatar is facing major environmental challenges that need to be appropriately resolved, particularly achieving water security, reducing carbon emissions and increasing energy efficiency, and mitigating risks that threaten the safety of the marine environment.
Assessing the severity of risks and dealing with anticipated changes will require mobilizing resources, coordinating efforts and putting appropriate policy and regulatory frameworks in place.
