Qatar Haj applicants have been given four days to select their pilgrimage operator among the 16 operators authorized by the Qatar to take them to Haj in Makkah. The Haj season starts in mid- October. According to a local daily report an SMS message has sent to successful applicants saying “Your application to go on Haj has been approved. You are requested to select your operators within four days.” The Qatari authorities said that 30 operators had applied and 16 out of them were selected. Six operators out of 16 would take pilgrims by land, ten would fly them to Makkah and it is applicants’ choice whether to be flown or driven. No would-be pilgrim, even Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nationals normally freed from visas, is permitted to enter Makkah without the endorsement of a Haj operator under Saudi laws. Outsiders are expected to provide a no-objection certificate by their sponsors or a record of their holidays among the documents to be submitted to the operators to complete their applications. This year, around 1,500 Qatar-based people are expected to perform Haj. Source:Qatar Chronicle
