According to the meteorology department report the country is expected face strong northwesterly winds caused by an extension of a ridge of high pressure from Friday evening till Monday evening.
Wind speeds are expected to strengthen gradually reaching its peak on Saturday and Sunday ranging between 18 to 28 knots with wind gusts reaching 35 knots at times blowing dust and causing poor visibility of 2 km or less in some areas.
In addition, sea warnings will be in effect for strong winds and high waves (5-10 ft).
Maximum temperatures are expected to rise to mid-40s in the next two days (Thursday and Friday). However, maximum temperatures are forecast to drop to upper 30s over most areas due to northerly winds on Saturday and Sunday.
After consulting with the Ministry of Health, Met urged old people and asthma patients or those who have chest allergies to avoid direct contact with dust and to check with the nearest health center if they feel any symptoms of chest allergies or breathing difficulties. It also advised drivers to close car windows while on road. (Source)
