Meteorology Department has forecast strong northwesterly winds and dusty skies from Friday evening till Sunday (May 15, 2016)

According to the forecast the country is expected to be affected by an extension of a ridge of high pressure accompanied by fresh to strong northwesterly winds and dusty skies.

Wind speeds are expected to increase gradually reaching its peak on Saturday and Sunday ranging between 18 to 25 knots with wind gusts reaching 35 knots at times blowing dust and reducing visibility to 2 km or less in some areas. In addition, sea warnings will be in effect for strong winds and high waves (6-9 ft ).

Maximum temperatures are expected to rise to mid-40s in central areas in the next two days (Thursday and Friday). However, maximum temperatures are expected to drop to mid-30s over all areas due to northerly winds on Saturday and Sunday.
