LuLu Hypermarket at Al Khor Mall is hosting a Street Food Festival as part of their Eid celebrations. The festival was inaugurated yesterday by Regional Manager of LuLu Hypermarket Group P M Shanavas in the presence of General Manager of Al Khor branch T Padmanabhan, General Manager-LuLu Al Gharrafa Branch Mohamed Basheer and other officials from Al Khor Mall and LuLu Hypermarkets. The concept ‘Street food’ is generally defined as the variety of sizzling ready-to-eat foods prepared and sold by the hawkers and vendors on a street or other public locations for immediate consumption and their presence keeps the market alive and chirpy irrespective of the seasons. The concept dates back-to-the ancient Rome and in its downstream it has undergone manifold changes to its present fast food form with state-of-the-art temperature controlled ambiance, said a mall statement. Anthony Bourdain, a passionate street food advocate recently highlighted its gaining importance at the inaugural ceremony of World Street Food Congress in Singapore, while saying “Street food, I believe, is the salvation of the human race”. A senior LuLu official said the festival is coupled with the various cultural activities held under the aegis of the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA). Al Khor Mall offers everything from the Middle-Eastern favourites viz. pizza to meatballs to biriyani as part of the festivities. Many restaurants in Al Khor Mall are joining in on the Street Food Festival. Lulu took inspiration from street food around the world and created a menu featuring street food from a variety of different destinations of the world including Thailand, Mexico, the Middle East, the Unites States of America, India, Vietnam, and China. During the Eid, Al Khor Mall has envisaged a series of activities in association with the QTA with a view to develop Al Khor as a unique destination for the families. The QTA has chosen Al Khor Mall as one of their destinations to accomplish various cultural activities. From tomorrow onwards a number of cultural shows are lined up, including Shaolin martial arts, magic show, traditional parade, LuLu Caty, Carnival Samba, Over Boys, Chicago Boyz, Pink Panther, Carnival Dixi, Talking Friends and Bubble Show. It will be held between 4:30 and 9:30pm. In line with the festival season, LuLu outlets in Qatar have hosted an amazing ‘Buy 2 Get 1 Free’ Promotion on garments, saris, churidhars, ladies bags and footwear until October 20.
