The State of Qatar has warned of the continuation of the manifestations of escalation in Iraq, saying that could lead to unfortunate results.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged all parties to exercise restraint to spare Iraq, its people and the people of the region, the vicious cycle of violence and the consequences of direct and indirect armed escalation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar further called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities towards the region.

An Iraqi television announced yesterday that commander of the Quds Force Qassem Soleimani and Deputy Chairman of the Popular Mobilization Forces Abu Mahdi Al Muhandis were killed in an airstrike that targeted their vehicles near Baghdad International Airport.

The Iraqi television said that the airstrike killed eight people including Iraqis and Iranian. Iranian news agency IRNA confirmed the news, saying the two were targeted by American strikes after they got out of the airport.
