State Audit Bureau Qatar signs grant agreement with INTOSAI Development Initiative

State Audit Bureau - Qatar has signed a grant agreement with the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) on the sidelines of the International Congress of Supreme Audit Institutions (INCOSAI) which kicked off on Monday in Moscow, Russian Federation, and will continue until Saturday.

The agreement was signed by H.E. the President of the Audit Bureau Sheikh Bandar bin Mohamed bin Saud Al-Thani, and IDI Director General Einar Gorrissen.

Under the agreement, the grant will be earmarked to funding the SAI Independence Action Program and the Accelerated Peer Partnership Program to support SAIs operating in fragile situations.

H.E. Sheikh Bandar bin Mohamed bin Saud Al-Thani expressed his hope that the grant provided by the State Audit Bureau - Qatar will contribute to enhancing the independence of SAIs, and creating better conditions for SAIs that face a constrained environment preventing them from performing their roles.

His Excellency stressed that the INTOSAI Development Initiative has always been a reliable strategic partner for INTOSAI regions in domains related to performance and capacity building of SAIs.

He added that he was fully confident in the professional level of the INTOSAI Development Initiative to achieve the desired results from the agreed programs.

In his capacity as the next president of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI), H.E. Sheikh Bandar bin Mohamed bin Saud Al-Thani affirmed the desire of the State Audit Bureau - Qatar to further develop the partnership with INTOSAI in the areas related to performance and capacity building of SAIs at the regional and international level.

For his part, the IDI Director General expressed his appreciation for this funding, appreciating the support extended to the initiative by the State Audit Bureau - Qatar which will be the next President of ARABOSAI. It is very important that the INTOSAI Development Initiative receives support from the SAIs community, he said, while looking forward to strengthening cooperation with the State Audit Bureau-Qatar as the next President of ARABOSAI and as a financial partner of the INTOSAI Development Initiative.

The signing of the agreement comes within the framework of the Audit Bureau's keenness to support the INTOSAI Development Initiative within its efforts to enhance the status of SAIs by enhancing their independence and professionalism and enabling them to play their essential roles in promoting transparency, integrity and protecting public finances in their countries.

The signing of the agreement was attended by a number of dignitaries, including H.E. Qatar's Ambassador to Moscow Fahad bin Mohammed Al Attiyah, in addition to Chairman of the Executive Council of the ARABOSAI) and his First Deputy and a representative of the General Secretariat of the Organization.
