If you’re looking for a unique blend of Khaleeji culture and pop culture, Bothayna Designs has what you need. Buthaina Al Zaman is the creative genius behind the brand. Some of the products she creates include shirts, phone covers, tote bags, pillows and more! Creating super funky cultural designs on all kinds of merchandise, Bothayna Designs started off as a project geared towards local Qatari youth.

“The main goal was to serve locals - male and female - with designs they can relate to/are familiar with, as most shops in the malls are foreign (e.g. you will never find products with Khaleeji designs in Zara, Mango, etc.),” Al Zaman said. “So, I want to offer this experience because I believe our culture is beautiful.”

Al Zaman taught herself to use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create her own Roy Lichtenstein characters. She said that she’d search for Arab pop-art characters on Google, but wouldn’t find any so decided to create some herself. Al Zaman has sold her designs and products in a few stores such as S*uce a concept store in Dubai, and Fortune Cookie in Kuwait.
