Stamps expo opens at Katara

A stamps exhibition on “World Post Day” has opened at the Arab Postal Museum at Katara. The World Post Day is celebrated annually on October 9, the anniversary of the founding of the Universal Postal Union in 1874 in the Swiss capital Bern. Abdul Rahman Al Oqali, Chairman of Qatar Post; Dr Khalid Al Sulaiti, General Manager of Katara and Khalid Diab Mohanadi, Chairman of the Arab Postal Museum attended the opening of the expo on Wednesday. “The exhibition includes stamps of different sizes from all over the world. They include portraits, wildlife, children’s drawings, design and architecture,” said Mohanadi. He invited everyone to visit the exhibition especially artists, as the expo showcases very important stamps, many of them featuring portraits of international artists. The stamps, he said, is a work of art featuring a medley of colours, designs and backgrounds. The stamps being displayed at the expo are part of the Arab Postal Museum’s collection, he revealed, stressing this exhibition comes after a full year of hosting the meeting of the Universal Postal Union Congress.
