Qtel has clarified last night that the “SMS and Win” promo is not in any way a gambling activity contrary to some complaints aired by some individuals to concerned authorities. Adel Mutawa (pictured), Executive Director of Qtel's Communications Group, issued this clarification to dispel the reports saying consumers joining the SMS trivia quiz contest are getting access to free digital content in return like digital wallpapers and ring tones for every QR4 text message taken from their mobile load. In an interview with The Peninsula, Mutawa said the promo is not gambling by itself when somebody placed a bet to try their luck on a game and either lost or win money since the contest instead enrich the knowledge of participants about Qatar's cultural heritage and traditions including facts and figures in history, geography and daily life.
