Internationally acclaimed Slava’s Snowshow has come to Doha with a promise to take the audience on a “pure magic” entertainment journey through its breathtaking theatrical images. The spectacle, being staged at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC), is brought to Doha by Snowball Productions Company with Ooredoo as the golden sponsor. The first of the four performances in Doha was held yesterday evening. “To keep pace with the sweeping progress in Qatar, we are committed to bringing the best shows to the country. Slava’s Snowshow will also provide a platform to produce more such shows locally, which we expect to be a huge success,” said Snowball Productions chairman Said al-Eida at a press briefing yesterday, adding that they would feature only four performances at QNCC due to the busy schedule of the troupe. Artem Zhimolokhov, the main actor of the show, said the show is a unique form of theatrical performance - it incorporates the modern and the classic, treating realistic themes with comic and fantastic beauty. Further, the show features a variety of clowns and characters appealing to the public. They also communicate with the people through spontaneous and colourful improvisations. Zhimolokhov promised the audience an “exhilarating experience based on the sophisticated technology employed in the shows”, besides the ability of the clowns to generate “unmatched fun” based on live interaction with the audience. Ooredoo representative Manal al-Muraykhi said sponsoring the show is part of Ooredoo’s commitment to offer the community the best entertainment and provide them with high-quality fun. In 1993, when the show first appeared, millions of spectators around the world admired it as a highly-rewarding entertainment experience. Since then, it has been performed thousands of times and won the Emmy Award, among other prestigious recognitions. The second show will be performed tonight. Due to the nature of the performance, Zhimolokhov said people are advised not to bring children under five years old. http://www.gulf-times.com/qatar/178/details/347190/slava%E2%80%99s-snowshow-brings-stage-spectacle-to-town
