Some 63 racers are preparing to take part in the Doha Aquabike Grand Prix this weekend, which kicks off three weeks of international marine sports competition from the Qatar Marine Sports Federation.
Competitors from 13 nations will take part in the four various racing disciplines, with the runabout category proving the most popular with 34 entrants, including nine Qataris; Mohammed al-Haidus, Waled al-Sharsani, Amer al-Mannai, Abdullah Ali, Bader al-Zaini, Mohammed Bujassoum, Khamis al-Hosni, Rashid al-Mannai and Thamer Bo-Faisal.
Some 15 racers have provisionally entered the Ski F1 category.
“It is certainly all systems go for everyone at the QMSF over the next few weeks,” said QMSF’s Mona Nasser.
“It all starts with this weekend’s Aquabike Grand Prix and then we will welcome the F1 and Class 1 teams over the subsequent two weeks. It’s the busiest time of the year for us all.”
The event at the Doha Bay course starts on Thursday and runs through to Saturday.
