Siemens and Qatar Foundation (QF) celebrated the graduation of participants from a unique program that seeks to inspire and develop promising Qatari talent. Attended by Janina Kugel, Chief Human Resources Officer and Member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG, the graduation ceremony marked the conclusion of the second edition of the ‘Qatar Foundation and Siemens Talent Training Programme’.
The training and knowledge transfer initiative is a collaborative effort between Siemens and QF, which selects a number of promising QF employees to take part in a comprehensive internship scheme at Siemens. The event was held at QF Headquarters and was attended by senior management from both entities.
“As a global company with a strong local presence, we are proud to contribute to the development of Qatar’s promising youth so they can actively participate in building their country’s future,” said Adrian Wood, CEO of Siemens in Qatar. “Throughout the program, we were very impressed by the dedication and commitment of the interns and their valuable contributions to key projects at Siemens. We wish them great success as they resume their positions at Qatar Foundation.”
Commenting on the graduation, Mohammed Abdulaziz Al Naimi, Chief Operations Officer, QF, said: “We are delighted to honor the graduates of the second edition of the ‘Qatar Foundation and Siemens Talent Training Programme’. This innovative initiative aims to advance the skills, tools, and abilities of our young men and women; our employees, who represent our future and together will contribute to the development of Qatar.”
Building on the success of the first edition, the six-month internship offered participants unparalleled exposure to some of the strategic projects being executed by Siemens in Qatar, including electrification, automation and digitalization. The participants, Abdulla Al-Fadala, Shaikha Khalifa Al-Sowidi, Abdulwahab Al-Yousuf and Mooza Al-Suwaidi, received coaching from mentors and shadowed senior managers throughout their internship. The experience gave them a unique opportunity to learn first-hand about the latest technologies from Siemens and the inner workings of a multinational, while also contributing to significant projects that directly support the Qatar National Vision 2030.
Siemens has been working in Qatar since 1970, supporting key infrastructure development in the country. Among its current projects is the Education City Tram, set to become the region’s most efficient tram system when completed. The company’s solutions also contribute to transmitting and distributing over 60 percent of power generated in the country. Additionally, 55,000 sensors and 1 million data points from Siemens work in unison to ensure fire safety, building automation and security in Qatar. Throughout the country, 200 buildings are equipped with the company’s innovative solutions and advanced technologies.
