Dr Hessa Al-Jaber is to launch the opening session of a major international internet conference being held in Education City on 27th November 2012. iNET Qatar: ‘The Rise of the Arab Information Society’ is being organized by ISOC Qatar in partnership with the Internet Society (ISOC), ictQATAR and Carnegie Mellon Qatar, who will host the event. This is the first iNET conference that ISOC have run in the region, and is a real coup for Qatar. The one day event will bring together a range of stakeholders and Internet communities from across the Arab region, providing a platform for discussion around a number of shared concerns and issues such as: - Arab business on the Internet - Development of Online Arabic content - Internet Governance in the Arab World Other high profile regional speakers at the conference include Qusai Al-Shatti, Deputy Chairman of Kuwait Information Technology, Dr. Imad Hoballah, Chairman and CEO of the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority in Lebanon and Khaled Koubaa, Policy Manager for Google in North Africa, as well as ictQATAR’s Mohamed El Bashir and Mina Nagy. They will be joined by a number of international experts who are also participating in the event, including Professor William Dutton from Oxford University, Taylor Reynolds, Senior Economist at the OECD and Dr. Robert Pepper, Vice President, Global Technology Policy, Cisco.
