The Ministry of Commerce and Industry issued Circular No. 3 of 2021 on 8 September 2021 regarding the ban on street vendors chasing the public for displaying their goods. According to the circular, which the Al-Sharq website obtained a copy of:
“It is prohibited for the street vendor to pursue the public for displaying his goods or merchandise, practising his activity or providing his service, according to the text of Law No. 5 of 2015 regarding similar commercial, industrial and public stores and street vendors, and Article No. 24 of the same Law".
The ministry called on all tenants and business owners within commercial and consumer complexes not to pursue customers or expose them to improper marketing of goods and products.
The ministry also indicated that in the event that violations of the provisions of the law of similar commercial, industrial and public shops and street vendors are seized and proven, and the decisions implementing it, the perpetrators will be subjected to legal procedures and accountability.
