A Qatari aircraft carrying 22 tons of medical aid arrived at Port Sudan Airport in Sudan on 6 May 2023. It is provided by the Qatar Fund for Development and the Qatar Red Crescent Society. The aircraft is the second of an air bridge allocated by the State of Qatar to assist those affected by the current fighting in Sudan.
This aid comes within the framework of the State of Qatar's support for the brotherly Sudanese people and its full support for their steadfastness in the face of the difficult conditions they live through due to the ongoing fighting.
On 6 May 2023, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the evacuation of 61 people holding Qatari residency from the Republic of the Sudan via a second Qatari plane that took off from Port Sudan Airport, bringing the total of those evacuated to 229 residents.
The State of Qatar had evacuated earlier Qatari citizens present in Sudan and 168 Sudanese citizens.
The ministry reiterated the keenness of the State of Qatar on security and stability in the Republic of Sudan.
