Qatar to implement a new law that would require parents to buckle small kids into car seats. The move comes after years of awareness campaigns. There are plans to make seat belts obligatory for passengers in the rear seat as well.
According to a report by the Peninsula Qatar, Dr. Rafael Consunji, Director of Hamad Injury Prevention Program (HIPP) said: “The country is going to put the child car seat law soon and it is important to make the community prepare for it.”
This statement came out while speaking to media as he was reminding the importance of road safety during the beginning of a new academic year.
With more than 20,000 babies born each year, the initiative is expected to play an important role in enhancing the education and awareness on road safety.
