It was an enchanting Friday night for thousands of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who enjoyed the Seasons of Love concert at Regency Halls in Doha. The acoustic trio of Princess Velasco, Juris Fernandez and Nyoy Volante “emotionally connected” with the audience, singing some of the most popular love numbers of yesteryears. Known as the Philippines’ acoustic princess, Princess started her performance with a Martin Nievera love song, Hindi na natuto (You haven’t learnt). Her second number, Hindo Magbabago (It will not change), received a warm applause. Hit songmaker Juris enthralled the audience with Minsan lang kitang iibigin (I will only love you once) from Ariel Rivera. And, almost everyone in the hall sang Kisapmata (Blink of an eye), a hit by the Rivermaya band in the mid-90s, with Juris. She also performed her version of Side A’s Forevermore and Apo Hiking Society’s When I met you. “I really love the crowd in Qatar,” Juris said about her first performance in Doha. The Seasons of Love event will not be complete without the country’s king of acoustic pop, Nyoy. Like Juris and Princess, his first concert in Qatar won the hearts of scores of OFWs - both young and old - thanks to his simple yet charming performance. His version of Kahit maputi na ang buhok ko (Even if my hair is white), a song that every couple can relate to, was well-received by the audience. The classic love song, Kaysarap ng may minamahal (It’s so sweet to love someone), too kept the OFWs engaged even as the singer recounted some of the moments when he had a similar feeling. The three artistes performed together towards the end, which left the audience mesmerised. “More, more, we want more,” the crowd screamed. Analog Chemistry led by Leslie Viloria of Infinity Productions also performed during the concert, performing famous love songs like You’re the inspiration and Killing me softly. In keeping with the theme of the concert, a male member of the audience took the opportunity to express his feelings to her girlfriend in the form of a marriage proposal - which was accepted by his partner. A day before, the Seasons of Rock show was held at Radisson Blu’s Qube. The twin concerts were organised by Infinity Productions and Media Plus. Besides Filipinos, people from other countries, too, enjoyed the event and won major prizes in a raffle draw. It included a round-trip ticket from Doha to anywhere in the world. Infinity Productions is organising another concert this year, which will feature two of the most popular bands in the Philippines - Side A and South Border. http://www.gulf-times.com/qatar/178/details/348228/seasons-of-love-concert-leaves-qatar%E2%80%99s-filipinos-enthralled
