Qtel has launched a first-of-its-kind Social Campaign for Ramadan, encouraging people to ‘Connect with Kind Words’ during the Holy Month. One of the key practices of the Holy Month is to stop bad habits and to use kind words when speaking to all people. Recognising the importance of this, Qtel is running a special campaign aiming to reach the whole community with a message of tolerance and respectful behaviour. The “Connect with Kind Words” campaign looks to encourage people to reach out to friends and family, and to always speak to people the way you would want to be spoken to. As the leading provider of communications in Qatar, Qtel carries millions of messages every day, via phone, SMS, email and the Internet. The company is hoping its message for Ramadan can carry across all these channels. The “Kind Words” campaign was suggested to Qtel by a customer, who wanted to see more done to encourage people to use the Internet in a positive way. The feedback came after Qtel launched its Customer Charter, which promises customers they will always be treated in a respectful way. As part of the Kind Words campaign, Qtel is organising a series of hospital visits, so that people can visit the sick and needy, and bring them good wishes for a speedy recovery. The company is also organising and participating in a wide range of charity and community activities to mark Ramadan. On a daily basis, Qtel-sponsored volunteers will be positioned at strategic locations across Qatar, distributing Iftar snacks of water and dates as people break their fast. There will also be a significant awareness campaign, which will promote the importance of “Kind Words” across a range of media, including a major television campaign. Qtel is also ensuring that all forms of communication are more affordable and easily accessible during the Holy Month, and is promoting a range of specially-developed content. In the spirit of Ramadan, Qtel is enhancing the value offered by Shahry Value Packs, with customers now able to make international calls using their monthly free minute allowance. With the new Ramadan Promotion, customers can now use the free call minutes of their Value Packs on either international or local calls, to share greeting and kind words with people anywhere in the world, any time. Hala customers can also connect with loved ones overseas, as Qtel provides bonus international SMS and international call minutes when people top-up their Hala accounts. Qtel is offering a special rate for sending Picture and Video Messaging for the Holy Month of Ramadan and making a selection of Qur’an, Hadith (oral traditions) and Anasheed (Islamic vocal music) available as digital content. The company is also making its SMS Prayer Timing Alert service available, as part of the effort to fully support the needs of the people of Qatar. The company is also making access to the popular Almajd religious channels free during the Holy Month of Ramadan through its Mozaic TV+ service, noting the importance of quality television viewing to family life during Ramadan. Even Qtel’s popular rewards programme, Nojoom, is extending to special offers during the Holy Month, with Bateel Dates available as Ramadan gifts with Nojoom points.
