Traffic congestion is aggravating on the roads of Doha and suburbs with each passing day on account of an increasing number of vehicles and ongoing works at several locations. Around 6,500 private vehicles were registered in September, up from the 4,500 in August, according to the ninth issue of the Qatar: Monthly Statistics bulletin, released by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics. The numbers of new driving licences for nationals and residents rose by roughly 85.4% and 31.5% respectively. The total number of driving licences went up by approximately 117% in September compared to August. Qatar’s population reached 2.187mn in September, a rise of 5.3% compared to August when it touched 2.077mn.
