Reach Out To Asia (Rota) and Dhreima Qatar Orphan Foundation co-hosted an Iftar and Garangao event for children as part of Rota’s Ramadan campaign. This year’s campaign, “Rota Reaches Out to All Children” has seen a series of initiatives this month, including Iftars and house renovations, all done with valuable support from partners. HE Sheikha Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, Rota’s Chairperson, while welcoming the guests, placed importance on the role of partners in realising Rota’s objectives. “We at Rota firmly believe that it is through strategic partnerships that our numerous missions can be accomplished,” said HE Sheikha Mayassa bint Hamad al-Thani. “It is through the kindness and generosity of these partners that we were able to spread the true spirit of Ramadan to others.” During the Iftar, two of Rota’s Ramadan partners were recognised for their role in the success in this year’s campaign: Qatar First National Bank, which supported an Iftar and a house renovation, was represented by Chairman Abdullah al-Marri, and The One, which supported the house renovations, was represented by Chairman Hisham Saleh. “This Ramadan, all of Reach Out To Asia’s efforts focus on children under the banner ‘Rota Reaches Out to All Children,” explained Essa al-Mannai, Rota Director. “With the collaboration of our strategic partners, all events during this month are geared towards helping Qatar’s children out through Iftars and other events, such as the one held today.” Following the Iftar, the children participated in Garangaou celebrations. Occurring in the middle of Ramadan, Garangao is a Qatari tradition whereby children go from house to house in their neighbourhoods, singing traditional songs in exchange for candy, nuts, and gifts. This event was held in partnership with Rota, and benefited children from the Dhreima Qatar Orphan Foundation. “We would like to especially thank Mr. Khaled Al Emadi, General Manager of the Dhreima Qatar Orphan Foundation, for hosting this Iftar that benefited so many children, and for supporting the Garangao event,” added al-Mannai. “We are happy to see that the Ramadan spirit is alive and well in Qatar, and are touched by the generosity of our partners Qatar First Investment Bank and The One.” http://www.gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=453922&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
