Road Safety Curriculum for Schoolchildren Launched

Staff Maj. Gen. Saad bin Jassim Al Khulaifi, the director general of Public Security, launched the curriculum of traffic safety for school students on Tuesday 11 March, at Al Rashad Model Independent School for boys.

The launching ceremony was attended by Brig. Muhammed Saad al Kharji, the director of Traffic Department and Vice chairman of National Traffic Safety Committee, Haya al Kowari, the director of Supreme council of education, Sheikh Thani bin Thamir, Representative of Shell Company, Brig. Muhammad Abdullah al Maliki, Secretary of National Traffic Safety Committee along with gulf traffic department officials and school management authorities.

Staff Maj. Gen. Saad bin Jassim al Khulaifi said that the new curriculum was the fruitful outcome of wide discussions and negotiations made by Ministry of interior for the last few years. The curriculum will be implemented now only for four schools on a trial period and will be applied for other schools soon.

Brig. Muhammed Saad al Kharji, stated that the launching of traffic curriculum in schools will help to make students aware of the road safety from the very early stage of their life and save all from road accidents as well.

Brig. Muhammad Abdullah al Maliki told that the new curriculum is the result of the cooperation between the public and private sectors as part of their social responsibility for safety and security of the society.

The curriculum include topics to raise awareness among children not only about traffic safety, but also other issues related to general safety as well as the danger of drugs.
