For the second consecutive year, The Ritz-Carlton, Doha, in partnership with Hamad Medical Corporation and the Ladies of Harley Qatar, is running a breast cancer awareness campaign throughout October. The staff of the hotel will participate in the campaign, supporting those fighting breast cancer and promoting early screening amongst guests. The campaign kicked off on October 4 with the “We ride to fight against breast cancer” by the Ladies of Harley Qatar. The programme began with a ride to The Ritz-Carlton, Doha followed by a series of activities including mural painting, kid’s crafts and dance performances. The “Breast Cancer Awareness Day” is being observed tomorrow (October 19) from 10.30 am to 12.30pm. The occasion is dedicated to increasing the awareness of breast cancer, and will feature talks by various specialists on the importance of early detection as a preventative measure as well as survivors, who will share their personal perspectives and experiences. The hotel had also organised a series of programmes which conclude today, linked to promoting the cause by raising awareness and funds. The list includes the “Pink” Afternoon Tea at La Mer where guests can enjoy a selection of healthy treats. As for the Lobby Lounge, a special “Pink” sweet selection has been prepared by Pastry Chef Khaled Raswan, which consists of pink cupcake and pink cheesecake. The Ritz-Carlton Spa will also offer a series of ‘Pink Indulgence” treatments, with ingredients made from pumpkin, cranberry and oatmeal. For the sport and fitness enthusiasts keen to participate, the hotel has also organised a special “Pink Zumba” session today from 11.30am to 12.30pm as well as a “Pink Pilates” session tomorrow from 11.30am to 12.30pm. In addition, throughout October, guests can donate QR 25 and receive a pink bracelet as a symbol of support for those who are fighting against breast cancer, with all proceeds going to cancer research. “The Ritz-Carlton, Doha aims to be part of the movement to raise awareness of breast cancer and its detection and prevention,” said Hoss Vetry, cluster general manager. “We are committed to working together with Hamad Medical Corporation on this campaign for two consecutive years as their passion and efforts to empower women aligns with our mission to provide resources that save lives. “Together with our Ladies and Gentlemen, we are helping to promote a worthy cause: encourage women to take active responsibility for their health,” he added. http://www.gulf-times.com/qatar/178/details/368942/ritz-to-hold-breast-cancer-awareness-day-tomorrow
