The Ministry of Interior (MOI) in a Tweet, has released a statement regarding the start and end dates for opening the nomination process of the Shura Council elections.

As per MOI, in accordance with the provisions of the Shura Council Election System Law, and within the timetable of the electoral process, candidacy for the Shura Council elections is open.

From Sunday, corresponding to August 22, 2021, until Thursday, corresponding to August 26, 2021, from 4 pm until 8 pm, at the headquarters of the Candidates Committee located in the Events and Events Hall at Qatar University.

The Ministry of Interior has also listed the conditions to be met by the candidate as follows:

First: Conditions that must be met by whoever nominates himself for membership in the Shura Council:

1. His original nationality should be Qatari.
2. He must have reached thirty years of age when the nomination window is closed.
3. He should be able to read and write the Arabic language.
4. He must be registered in the electoral district in which he is running.
5. He should be of good reputation, good conduct, and known for his honesty. Integrity and good manners.
6. He has not been previously convicted of a crime against honor or trust, unless he has been rehabilitated in accordance with the law.
7. That the voter fulfills the conditions of the voter in accordance with the provisions of the law.

Second: Nomination Procedures:

1. The applicant shall submit to the Candidates Committee at its mentioned headquarters, with the presentation of the personal card.
2. The nomination application shall be submitted on the form prepared for this purpose and signed by a student candidacy before the committee.
3. The committee receives the nomination application, accompanied by two photographs.

The applicant must receive a receipt.

Third: The preliminary lists of candidates will be announced on Monday, August 30, 2021.
