Qatar Petroleum’s directorate, Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLC), hosted yet another annual family day filled with fun and cultural activities for more than 1,300 Ras Laffan staff and families who gathered at the Sharq Village and Spa on October 28 under the theme “United Colours of Ras Laffan”. This year, the theme was aimed at uniting cultures, and staff and families from various nationalities joined hands to showcase their country’s cultural activities and performances. Pavilions representing RLC’s communities from Qatar, Lebanon, Syria, India, Philippines and Indonesia were the main highlights of the day, and each community highlighted their country’s traditional foods, clothes, tourism, culture, music and provided lots of informational materials. Traditional dances, folklore and plays were performed on stage by Ras Laffan families, as live food stations, entertainment, games and activities were thoroughly enjoyed by the 40 nationalities gathered in a team building spirit and interacted in an informal and relaxed atmosphere. Abdulaziz Jassim al-Muftah, director Ras Laffan, attended with his family and spent the day interacting with the staff, saying: “The aim of the day is to celebrate and reward the families and appreciate their support and hard work. Such an event is essential to understand each other’s traditions and an opportunity for us to know the staff through an out of office experience. A special appreciation goes to the PR team for organising this special day and to volunteers from Ras Laffan communities who helped in beautifying wonderful pavilions and showcased breathtaking cultural performances on the stage.” Gulf Times
