The Ras Abu Aboud Road was opened yesterday by the New Doha International Airport (NDIA) authorities. The 12km road, from Corniche to Air Force Roundabout on Wakrah road, has four lanes, including one reserved for emergency purposes. As of now, some stretches are cordoned off to complete markings. The new road, which runs between the present airport and NDIA, is the main link to the latter. A new flyover linking Old Salata Road and Ras Abu Aboud Road will open by the end of this month. Motorists commuting between West Bay and Wakrah, can avoid a number of signals on the Doha-Wakrah main road that passes in front of the present airport. The speed limit on Ras Abu Aboud Road, which has three interchanges to access NDIA, is 60 and 80. http://www.gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=320651&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
