Rain and thunder, along with strong winds, are expected in the country by this evening, the Qatar Met Department has said.
The mercury level is likely to go up across Qatar during the day, with the maximum temperature rising above 30C in most places, according to information available on the social media channels of the Weather Office yesterday.
Meanwhile, offshore areas are expected to witness thunderstorms, strong winds and high seas by the evening.
On Saturday, the Met Department had said the country was likely to be affected by an extension of a low-pressure system from this evening, with chances of scattered rain that might be thundery and accompanied by strong winds at times. Yesterday, the Met Department – through a post on social media – said the rainy spell was expected to continue until Wednesday morning.
The forecast for inshore areas says it will be misty in some places at first, followed by relatively hot conditions with slight dust. Partly cloudy to cloudy conditions are also likely, along with scattered rain and thunder by the evening.
The wind speed in these areas may go up to 25 knots during the thundershowers.
Offshore areas will see hazy-to-misty conditions and it will also be partly-cloudy to cloudy. There is a chance of scattered rain, accompanied by thunder, by the evening. The wind speed may increase to 25 knots by the evening, with the sea level rising to 7ft.
Visibility, meanwhile, may drop to 2km or less during the thundershowers.
The minimum and maximum temperatures in the country today are expected to be 16C and 33C, respectively, with the forecast for Doha being 22C and 32C. (Source)
