Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) has welcomed the first batch of fresh Qatari graduates into the company. The move falls within the framework of a partnership with the Ministry of Labour and the company’s commitment to nurture local talents and develop human capabilities, as well as being a result of its participation in Qatar Career Fair. The new batch of Qatari graduates has joined Qatar Rail in the architecture, mechanical engineering, network engineering, system administration and communications engineering sections. With this, the number of nationals has increased to 32% of the total staff of the company. The Qatarisation drive at Qatar Rail has reaped positive results and the numbers are expected to continue rising thanks to the company’s sponsorship and internship efforts. The organisation is constantly seeking to hire bright nationals - from entry-level graduates to senior professionals. “We at Qatar Rail believe that rewarding careers empower Qatari youth to take charge of their future and enable them to make informed choices and decisions about their prospects in the Qatari workforce. We look forward to welcoming our next intake of future rail leaders to Qatar Rail and to continue our commitment to working hand-in-hand with the Ministry of Labour towards achieving the objectives of the country’s strategic vision,” said Meshal Abdulla al-Obeidan, executive director (administration), Qatar Rail. The new recruits went through a five-day orientation programme before joining the company. The programme was tailor-made to provide the fresh graduates with comprehensive information and knowledge about all aspects of the workflow at Qatar Rail. It included a presentation, interactions with different departments of the company, a visit to the Lusail site and a screening of the latest informative Qatar Rail documentary. “As Qatar is rapidly growing in so many arenas, it is important that young Qataris are involved in challenging fields and understand how to run mega projects. Qatar Rail is a great place to have such an experience,” said al-Obeidan. http://www.gulf-times.com/qatar/178/details/359070/rail-company-welcomes-new-graduates-aboard
