On Qatar University team winning of the second place in the fifth edition, the President of Qatar University Dr. Hassan Rashid Al Derham, expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the university team in all rounds of the competition, stressing that reaching the final is an achieving in itself, after the university maintained the title for two consecutive years.
Dr. Al Derham congratulated the Jordanian team, pointing out that the competition was strong and fun and filled with enthusiasm and vitality on important political issues in a logical sequence.
The President of Qatar University emphasized the role of the University in supporting the student clubs and their activities that enhance personal skills and reflect them as future leaders, mentioning his team reaching to this level and the participation of Qatar University Debates Club in local and international tournaments and winning the title two consecutive years.
This year's tournament was attended by more than 600 arbitrators, trainers and participants representing 107 teams from 51 countries, including 15 Arabic speakers, including 6 teams from inside Qatar (Qatar University, Police College, Community College, Carnegie Mellon University) with 9 more participants than the last tournament.
Thus, this tournament is the largest in the world of debates in Arabic and English in terms of the size of participation and the quality of programs provided and the level of trainers and arbitrators, and the number of new events and competitions.
