Female architectural engineering students of Qatar University (QU) took part in a presentation of their Design Studio 3 projects as part of their final graduation assignments. The two-day event was organised by the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering of the College of Engineering. The group projects were on the Doha Business and Tourism Village: “Al Liwan” (Bara’ah al-Nisf, Hanan al-Ramahi, Maha al-Khalifa and Tamader al-Malki), “Al Saif” (Asma al-Thani, Balsam Abu Nada, Bothayna Abbara and Shorok Abdoh), “Pearl” (Aisha al-Mutawa, Mai Essam, Noora Burkashisha and Reen al-Suadi), and “Lagoon Village” (Reem al-Okka, Aya AbuSaud, Maha al-Mashtoly, and Fatima al-Sulati). The projects were judged by external examiners from the industry, including Dr Ashraf Yousef Ibrahim (of Ashghal), Dr Alex Amato, Davis Langdon, Dr Malika Bourinane (of Arab Engineering Bureau); and Ahmed Zakaria Ahmed (of Rooya for Urban Development). “The students exhibited their learning experience in site analysis and design and their ability to integrate their studies into the technical production of the design,” the department head Dr Nasser al-Nuaimi said. A group of 26 male civil engineering students are scheduled to make presentations of their design projects on June 14 and 15. http://gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=296152&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
