QU chemistry programme accredited by Canada body

Qatar University (QU) Department of Chemistry and Earth Sciences of the College of Arts and Sciences celebrated the accreditation of its Chemistry Programme during the third Annual Chemistry Symposium held at the university’s Ibn Khaldoon Hall yesterday. The Programme was granted accreditation by the Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC) in February this year. During the event, the accreditation certificate was presented to Dean of College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Dr Siham Al Qaradawi by CSC President Pierre Beaumier QU Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer Dr Humaid Al-Midfaa, on behalf of QU President Prof Sheikha Abdulla Al Misnad, congratulated faculty, staff and students of the Programme , saying: “This is not the achievement of one person – it was the hard work and effort by everyone in the Programme and the Department over three years and throughout a very rigorous review process”. Dr Siham Al Qaradawi, Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences, said they were honoured to to be part of this achievement which demonstrates their commitment to the vision laid out in the university’s Reform Plan. The accreditation was the second distinction for CAS following the Biomedical Sciences Programme’s accreditation by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences. Professor of Organic Chemistry Dr Ibrahim Al Naimi said the accreditation testifies to their commitment to maintaining optimum international standards and high safety measures with utmost care for the environment.
