QTEL has officially launched BlackBerry Internet Service (Personal Edition) in the country. The service enables small businesses and individual mobile phone customers in Qatar to enjoy the benefits of the BlackBerry wireless solution, which offers access to a broad range of services, including wireless e-mail, instant messaging, Internet, MMS, SMS and other mobile applications. BlackBerry services have become an important tool for local and global businesses, and with today’s launch of the new ‘Personal Edition’, Qtel is looking to double the number of subscribers in Qatar. Khalid Abdulla al-Mansouri, Qtel executive director (Business Solutions) said: “The launch asserts and enhances Qtel’s role as the premier small business and individual solutions provider. The BlackBerry Internet Service solution allows our customers to be connected anywhere and anytime with a package of services that offers tremendous value for the money.” The service provides small businesses and individual mobile phone customers to have access to up to 10 e-mail accounts supported by POP3 or IMAP4 accounts, including the most popular ISP accounts such as Hotmail, Gmail and Yahoo! Mail by using advanced BlackBerry Push e-mail technology. With push e-mail technology, the customer is always connected and e-mails are received instantly and automatically through a state-of-the-art BlackBerry handset and integral software. “The new BlackBerry Internet Service is another example of Qtel taking mobility another step forward. Offering the BlackBerry solution further illustrates Qtel’s commitment to offering a full range of advanced mobile communications services and applications to our customers,” al-Mansouri added.
