Qtel has announced a special offer for sending picture and video messages during the holy month of Ramadan, enabling customers to send greetings through more than 700 mobile operators globally, and locally in Qatar, for QR0.90.
The Ramadan offer is set to run from August 16 through October 10, covering the whole of Ramadan and the Eid holidays. The special rate of QR0.90 will apply all day, every day during this period.
Qtel is working with mobile operators in over 200 countries and territories around the world to enable customers to send multimedia messages internationally.
Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) has become a popular way for people to send greetings to friends as it enables them to combine pictures, audio and video with a text message. During Ramadan, many people send Islamic imagery and verses from the Quran along with congratulatory messages at the start of the month, as well as Eid greetings during Eid Al Fitr.
To be able to send an MMS message, customers should have an MMS-capable handset and Qtel’s MMS settings. The settings can be retrieved by sending the text message ALL to 92072. Qtel will send a special reminder for people who don’t have these settings, so that they can access a website that supports MMS.

Meanwhile Vodafone still offers SMS and MMS messages for free during the weekends.
