Qtel is offering a new service for its mobile customers in Qatar, that will make it possible to top-up mobile phone accounts via the Qtel page on the popular social networking site Facebook.
The Top-Up service has been designed to make recharging mobile phone accounts quick and easy for Hala customers.
It will allow customers to recharge their Hala accounts without the hassle of registration, and receive the recharge amount within seconds of the payment being processed.
More than 37,000 Qtel customers on Facebook will be able to access the service from next week.
Since its launch in 2010, Qtel’s Facebook page has grown to be one of the most popular Facebook sites in Qatar, with more than 37,000 people “liking” the fan page.
Combined with its specialist page for the Virgin Mobile Qatar service, which has more than 17,500 “likes,” there are nearly 55,000 people receiving regular information and interacting with Qtel every day, the company said yesterday.
The quick payment system has been designed to enable customers on the social networking site to top-up immediately through the Qtel page, rather than having to register each time a top-up is required.
The Top-Up service is also planned to allow customers the opportunity to recharge or pay any postpaid bills immediately, with the recharge amount added to the account within seconds of the online transaction. An SMS will be automatically sent to the customer’s phone detailing the recharge amount. Qtel will not charge for using this service and the minimum amount per transaction will be QR10.
Qtel has plans to enable customers of its Mozaic TV service to make payments and top ups via their set-top box, so that bills can be settled using their TV remote control.
