Qatar Telecom (Qtel) activated its two millionth mobile connection over the weekend, which is a milestone for the company.
Two million Nojoom points, or QR80,000 worth of shopping vouchers from Virgin Megastore outlets and Giant stores, will be given to the two millionth mobile phone subscriber. The winner can also use his or her Nojoom points to redeem Hala credits. Qtel will also give away a total of QR500,000 worth of prizes to 100 lucky customers who activate mobile account numbers over the next two weeks.
Fifty of the customers picked will each receive Shahry Annual Subscription Bundles and a QR2,000 handset voucher. The remaining 50 winners will receive Bundles of QR50 Hala credits and a QR1,000 handset voucher. Qtel will also be giving 10,000 Nojoom points to 500 of its customers.
The winners can collect the prizes from Qtel Shops with a valid Qatari ID. Customers who won Nojoom points will be automatically updated over the phone.
“It is a massive achievement to reach two million mobile customers in Qatar, and we are very grateful to the people for their support,” said Adel Al Mutawa, Qtel Executive Director, Group Communications.
Al Mutawa said Qtel has enjoyed a surge in sales in July, driven by the popularity of its Hala service and the increasing interest in Shahry – Pay Monthly, the country’s leading post-paid service.
“The response to the Two Millionth Customer Competition has been extremely enthusiastic, with Qtel Shops seeing high volumes of visitors in one of the busiest Julys that we’ve ever experienced. Our achievements as a company have only been realised with the support of the people, so it was important that we share our success in hitting the Two Million target with our customers through this competition,” he said.
Qtel’s customer service team will be contacting the winners of the promotion over the next two weeks to inform them of their prizes.
