Qtel has reduced international call charges for its customers using the Hala and the recently introduced Shahry Control services. The new tariffs, effective from today, are being offered on a permanent basis. Hala and Shahry Control users can now make international calls to all Asian and Middle Eastern countries at a reduced rate of 99 dirhams per minute. Qtel is also abolishing peak and off-peak rates for overseas calls on Hala and Shahry Control services. From today, calls to other GCC countries during peak as well as off-peak hours will cost 99 dirhams per minute — 49 percent less than the previous peak rate and 32 percent less than the previous off-peak rate, the company said yesterday. The same rate of 99 dirhams will apply to calls to Asia and to other MENA (Middle East and North Africa) countries. This is the first time that a uniform tariff has been offered for calls to all these places. Calls to America and Europe will also cost 26 percent less, at QR1.50 during both peak and off-peak hours. Calls to Oceania, Africa and the rest of the world will also be more affordable, with a standard peak and off-peak rate of QR1.75 per minute. There will be a surcharge on calls to some countries because of international pricing stipulations, the company said. A full list of these countries — and the surcharge — is available on
