Qatar-based operator Qtel is considering rebranding the various operators that sit within its group. Qtel has a presence in 17 countries across the Middle East, North Africa, the Indian subcontinent and Asia with networks operating under a range of different brands including Qtel Nawras, Wataniya, Nawras, Nedjma and Tunisiana. "There hasn't been a decision yet but there is a discussion taking place," Wataniya CEO Scott Gegenheimer told CommsMEA, at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. "We would expect something towards the end of next year. First, we need to do a little more primary research. It's going to be a tough decision, and it will all come down to the execution," he added. Gegenheimer said the aim of any rebrand would be to increase brand awareness and to build a global brand, which could help to increase customer retention and build synergies between the different operators. He added that a number of options were open to the group, from a total rebrand of all the operators, similar to the rebranding operation conducted by Zain last year. Or, a lower scale rebrand in the mould of France Telecom and its Orange subsidiaries could be pursued. In February last year, Qtel International was formed with the aim of providing "leadership and corporate governance" across the Qtel group. refered by ...... -> url is -> www.arabianbusiness.com%2F547096-qtel-considers-rebranding-its-operators
