Qtel has filed a request with ictQATAR for extension of its ‘Shahry Value Pack’ international calls promotion, citing “huge demand” across Qatar. Under the promotion, which was launched for Ramadan, customers can make international calls as part of the bundled minutes allowance provided with every Shahry value pack, as well as local calls. “Combined with the SMS, MMS and megabytes of available Internet download provided with every pack, the offer has provided massive value for people in Qatar,” Qtel said. Shahry 130 provides 300 call minutes for local and international calls, 30 SMS, 10 MMS and 1MB download of Mobile Internet for all users. Customers opting to use the Shahry 130 Value Pack therefore get 300 call minutes they can use locally or internationally, or an effective call rate of Dh43. Customers opting for the top-end Shahry 575 get 2,000 call minutes, working out at Qatar’s ‘best-ever’ effective call rate of Dh29 for local and international calls. “The transparency and affordability of the new offer, as well as the support of a reliable international network which enabled people to connect with friends and family overseas throughout Eid, have been central to its popularity,” Qtel said. Under existing regulations, Qtel is required to seek approval on all tariffs and promotions from ictQATAR. Qtel has applied to extend the promotion until November and is awaiting the required ictQATAR approval to do so. http://gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=317010&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16 I think it's nice that Qtel is now giving discounts after they lost the monopoly, but I am actually feeling that they don't have anyone with a brain.
