QTA prepares a treat for tourists at GIBTM

Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) is participating at the Gulf Incentive and Business Travel Market (GIBTM), that inaugurated in Abu Dhabi yesterday. GIBTM is the leading event for the meetings, incentives and business travel industry in the GCC region. The QTA stand hosts 10 hotels, five tour operators and representatives from the Qatar National Convention Centre. QTA’s director of tourism, Abdullah al -Badr, said: “Qatar offers a perfect environment for business travel and events and with its ultra-modern leisure amenities can offer a unique tourism experience that takes in traditional Qatari culture and heritage alongside super luxury hospitality options. Many of these tourism partners are represented on our stand at GIBTM as a tangible reminder of Qatar’s successful tourism drive and expansion.” He added that Qatar was getting a reputation as one of the latest new destinations for upscale meeting organisers with its capacity to stage large-scale international events and trade fairs.” Combining exhibitions and tourism, QTA has created a unique tourism offering as a business oriented destination with state of the art leisure and hospitality facilities. A regional hub for events, conferences and exhibitions, Qatar has huge number of its visitors coming for business, and is targeting an increase in the number of visitors over the next five years. As the QTA steers Qatar into becoming a leading world-class event destination for the ‘Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions’ (MICE) sector, the country is gaining a reputation for quality and excellence with its development of sustainable events and supporting infrastructure for exhibitions and business tourism. Qatar has also begun to develop local talent in the MICE sector, with the introduction of new hospitality training programmes at Stenden University and Qatar MICE Development Institute (QMDI) as tourism is the fastest growing sector in the country.
