Women were the largest beneficiaries of social services in Qatar last year, shows data released by the Qatar Statistics Authority. (QSA). A total of 12,529 citizens availed of services of the Ministry of Social Service in 2012 and 69 percent were women. The Family Consulting Center provided a total of 5,602 services during the period and 50.8 percent of the beneficiaries were women. Of the 1,410 telephone services given by the centre during the year, 87.2 percent of the beneficiaries were women. The Qatar Foundation for Protection of Women and Children provided support in 1,633 cases. Among the beneficiaries, 52 percent were children and 48 percent were women. A total of 6,384 people benefited from services of the Social Development Center in 2012. Source : Qatar Chronicle
