QNH plans to invest in Comoros

Sheikh Nawaf bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani, Chairman of the Qatar National Hotels Company (QNH), was on a visit to the Union of Comoros arriving at Maroni, the capital of The Grand Comoros. Sheikh Nawaf was accompanied by a delegation from QNH which included Jan Poul De Boer, Chief Executive Officer, Denis Sorin, Chief Operating Officer, Hesham Kamal, Legal Advisor, and Tamara Khalil, Group Director Marketing, along with a delegation from the Jassim Bin Jabor Al Thani Charity Institution represented by Mohammed Al Hail, Board of Director and Ibrahim Saleh, Executive Director. Sheikh Nawaf was welcomed by the president and people of the Union of Comoros and met with President Ahmed Abdallah Mohamed Sambi in a closed meeting at the Beit Al Salam Palace in Moroni. Sheikh Nawaf and the president discussed bilateral social and economic issues related to their respective countries in addition to the current global economic situation and its effects on the Union of the Comoros with the country’s plans to attract foreign investments to the country. President Sambi commended Sheikh Nawaf on the efforts of the Sheikh Jassim bin Jabor Charity Institution’s generous contributions to the medical welfare of the Union of Comoros. The discussions also revolved around QNH’s plans to invest in the country’s hospitality sector and further investment opportunities in the Union of the Comoros. In this respect, a memorandum of understanding was signed stating that QNH will purchase a land in the Mitsamiouli area which lies in the north of Grand Comoros and is to invest in a hotel/resort envisioned to set a new benchmark for quality and standards in the Comoros with hopes to boost tourism to the countries islands. The Sheikh Jassim bin Jabor Charity Institution has also signed a memorandum of understanding with plans to build a new 120-bed hospital in addition to further humanitarian contributions to the Union of the Comoros with consideration of the reconstruction to a number of mosques and the existing Al Marouf Hospital. Also during the visit Sheikh Nawaf met with Vice President and Minister of Tourism and Investment, Idi Nadhoim, along with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minster of Health, and other top officials from the Comorian government.
