QMMF completes preparations for Qatar Online Racing Championship

Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) completed the preparations for the launch of the Qatar Online Racing Championship "Gran Turismo PS4" scheduled for Sunday with the participation of 45 contestants divided into 3 groups. Ghanim Al Maadheed, Nasser Al Ahbabi, and Ibrahim Al Abdulghani, the champions of Qatar Touring Car Championship, are the notable participants. The championship comes in light of the country's precautionary measures to combat the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), by urging everyone to stay at home through playing sports and participating in events.

QMMF has set many conditions for participating in this tournament, most notably registering the contestants with their real names and not allowing the use of nicknames, the console for participation is PlayStation 4, and the chosen car for every weekend will be announced two days before the start of the weekly competitions.

The federation added that the track on which every race will be held will be announced to all competitors one night before, each participant will be racing against others in his group for three weeks, three races in every week on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, and Competitors will accumulate points based on their finishing position over three weeks and the highest scoring five competitors will get into the last week for the finals (15 Participants). Races will be in the following format: 10 minutes for practice, 15 minutes for qualifying and 25 minutes of racing. Points will be awarded only for the race results, as there will be no points for free practice or qualifying.
