QFFD opens a rehabilitation and prosthetics hospital in Gaza

HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani Rehabilitation and Prosthetics Hospital in Gaza opened today. The hospital was built with the funding of Qatar Fund For Development (QFFD) and implemented by the National Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Health opened today.

The General Manager of Qatar Fund For Development (QFFD) Khalifa bin Jassem Al Kuwari announced the launch of the hospital's operations. In this context Al Kuwari said that the State of Qatar has always been interested in helping the Arab countries and specifically Palestinians in Gaza. The hospital aims to treat Palestinian patients suffering from limb amputation and rehabilitate them to return to their normal lives, as they need such support to enjoy their life, especially in light of the difficult conditions they are experiencing.

The ceremony was attended by the Vice-Chairman of Qatar Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza KhaiId Al Hardan, Undersecretary of the Palestinian Ministry of Health Dr. Yousef Abu Rish, Director-General of the Hospital Dr. Raafat Labad, and Head of International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) sub-delegation in Gaza, Gilan Devorn, in addition to the participation of members of the Legislative Council, leaders of the Palestinian national labor, heads of trade unions and a QFFD delegation.

Dr. Yousef Abu Rish and Dr. Raafat Labad praised the role played by the State of Qatar in the humanitarian and development projects in Gaza, and expressed their thanks to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, and HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani. The hospital was built on an area of 12,000 square meters with a capacity of 100 beds.

The hospital has several important departments to provide the best quality of treatment according to international standards. The Ministry of Public Health in Qatar sent doctors to operate and train the medical staff, and to serve all Palestinian citizens with disabilities and special needs, focusing on Gaza Strip due to the location of the hospital.
