Qatar’s Transport and Communications Authorities Celebrate Country’s National Day

Qatar Airways Qnd Celebrations

Qatar Airways celebrated the country’s upcoming National Day at the Old Airport Park today, showcasing Qatar’s rich culture and traditions through various activities, including an exciting live performance by Qatari singer Fahad Al-Kubaisi.

The National Day celebrations were held under the patronage of Qatar’s Minister of Transport and Communications, H.E. Mr. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti, and in collaboration with Qatar Airways, Hamad Port Project, Mowasalat, the Communication Regulatory Authority, Qatar Civil Aviation Authority and Qatar Ports Management Company. Several VIPs attended the event to share the joy of National Day, including Minister of Transport and Communications, H.E. Mr. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti; Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker; Chairman of Qatar's Civil Aviation Authority, H.E. Abdullah bin Nasser Turki al-Subaie; Chief Operating Officer of Hamad International Airport, Mr. Badr Al-Meer, and a number of other government officials and VIPs.

In addition to the performance by Fahad Al Kubaisi, Al Maha Academy students, Shahwan Misfer Al-Hajri and Sabah Mohammed Al-Nuaimi delivered a special poem about Qatar and Qatar Airways. Celebrations also featured various activities showcasing local Qatari culture, such as henna art, falconry, traditional handicrafts and traditional local food.

Minister of Transport and Communications, H.E. Mr. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti, said: “This is a great occasion to renew determination to continue building on the previous achievements and the efforts for more advancement and prosperity for this nation. It is also a renewed determination to move on for more progress and advance for the Qatari people. This is also an occasion to show the achievements done and successes recorded, which contributed to boosting Qatar’s ranking at the international level.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “We are delighted to be a part of today’s celebration of our beloved country alongside members of our local community. One of Qatar Airways’ core values is expressing our pride, loyalty and love for Qatar, and National Day offers a chance for us to express the patriotism that is shared by all of Qatar’s residents and citizens, regardless of their country of origin.

“As the national carrier of the State of Qatar, we are delighted to enable visitors to explore our country’s remarkable culture and hospitality, as well as to connect the world to more than 160 business and leisure destinations from our home and hub, Hamad International Airport. We look forward to welcoming visitors to Qatar discover our country’s unique heritage.”

Director General of Qatar Aeronautical College, Sheikh Jabor Bin Hamad M. Al-Thani, said: “National Day is an opportunity to celebrate our accomplishments in Qatar, which contributed to the well-being of the Qatari citizens and raised our country among the nations. We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate His highness the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and to the father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.”

Mowasalat Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Khalid Nasser Al Hail, said: “Our country proudly celebrates its National Day with its motto of this year (‘As long as it was proven by our deeds’). We do not consider the National Day to be just another celebration, but an occasion to renew our commitment to fulfill our promises to the nation. With the wisdom and foresight of our wise leadership, Qatar has made remarkable achievements.”

Hamad Port Project Executive Director, Engr. Jassim Mohamed Al Shirawi, said: “Today's celebration demonstrates our solidarity and loyalty to the State of Qatar and to His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. We, the people of Qatar, take this opportunity to reaffirm our dedication to our country, leadership and love for our homeland. The many achievements we see year after year show that we are on track to achieve Qatar's 2030 National Vision.”

Mwani Qatar Chief Executive Officer, Capt. Abdulla Al-Khanji, said: “National Day is an annual occasion close to our hearts and a chance to remember our wonderful history and the many accomplishments achieved over the years. Qatar has taken great strides toward achieving the 2030 National Vision, and all in Qatar stand united to achieve our goals.”

President of Communication Regulatory Authority, His Excellency Mr. Mohammed Ali Al-Mannai, said: “On the occasion of Qatar’s National Day, we would like to congratulate the government and people of Qatar. CRA celebrates this yearly occasion to convey the love and loyalty towards our country and our wise leadership.
The celebration affirms our support to the nation’s comprehensive development and progress, which require all of us to contribute and work effectively for the growth and glory of Qatar.”

President of the Civil Aviation Authority, H.E. Mr. Abdullah bin Nasser Turki Al-Subaey, said: “Celebrating this special day under its motto of this year (‘As long as it was proven by our deeds’), proves that good deeds are what build nations. Our faith in the State of Qatar is what brought the country to this leading position and set it as an example to be followed by developed countries whose citizens enjoy progress and prosperity. It is our duty to use this extraordinary occasion every year as a platform to evaluate past accomplishments as well as future outlook as we look forward to more achievements. The slogan ‘Qatar will remain free’ this year also strengthens our sense of loyalty, belonging and pride in our heritage and history, and the strong will of a generation that has made Qatar a strong, free and sovereign country. And with optimism for a promising future and despite all obstacles, we have become stronger and proved by our determination that Qatar will remain solid, which inspires feelings of pride in citizens and residents and is a sign of confidence and wisdom of our leadership.”

Qatar Airways is also celebrating national day on board its aircraft with special edition Nappa Dori amenity kits, a Qatar National Day menu featuring award-winning desserts in all cabin classes, as well as postcards featuring photos of Qatar.

Qatar Airways is one of the world’s fastest-growing airlines, with a modern fleet of more than 200 aircraft flying to business and leisure destinations across six continents.

Qatar Airways was named ‘World’s Best Business Class’ by the 2018 World Airline Awards, managed by international air transport rating organisation Skytrax. It was also named ‘Best Business Class Seat’, ‘Best Airline in the Middle East’ and ‘World’s Best First Class Airline Lounge’.
