In a report by Al Raya, Qatari student Abdulaziz Ibrahim Al-Mohannadi topped the class of 2022 at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom. The batch included more than 50 students worldwide and 3 Qatari students.

As per the report, Al-Mohannadi said "The Sandhurst Academy founded in 1802 is one of the oldest military academies not only in Britain but in the whole world and it is one of many military academies in the United Kingdom, and is considered a basic training centre for officers in the British army, and provides military and academic education."

He also said that he greatly benefited from this 9-month study. He would like to bring what he learned to Qatar and contribute to the development and modernization that the Qatari army is constantly witnessing, pointing out that Qatar spares no effort in adopting the methods of development and modern sciences in all fields. The report said that Al-Mohannadi said that the study was rigorous and included military academic studies, military history, war plans, military planning and everything related to army systems.

"After obtaining a university degree from Qatar University, he worked as a civilian in the Army Sports Club, then moved to the military, and then was nominated for this study at Sandhurst Academy", the report said.

The report also mentioned that he explained that the study was not limited to the theoretical aspect only, but that 60% of the study was practical and was similar to the application of wars and war manoeuvres with strategic planning for everything related to armies and war management.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani also pursued his higher education in the United Kingdom where he attended the Royal Military Academy of Sandhurst, graduating in 1998.

Upon graduation from Sandhurst, His Highness joined Qatar’s Armed Forces where his military and academic studies combined practical experience to enhance his leadership skills.
