Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Thani, a controversial member of Qatar's royal family, who has been detained in UAE by his hosts, is finally leaving Abu Dhabi and heading to Kuwait, The Peninsula reports:
'Al Jazeera TV channel reported this latest development on Tuesday (January 16) evening. More details are awaited. His health had deteriorated yesterday due to the pressure exerted on him and he was taken to hospital.
In an interview with Al Jazeera Arabic TV channel broadcast on Monday (January 15), his brother Sheikh Khalid bin Ali Al Thani said: “I spoke to my brother yesterday and from his voice I felt he is tired.” The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) had announced yesterday that it had received a complaint from the family of the Qatari citizen Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Thani confirming the continued detention and restriction of movement by the Emirati authorities.
The NHRC said in a statement that it reviewed the video disseminated across media platforms, news channels, and social networking sites, which show the Qatari citizen Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Thani complaining of being arbitrarily detained by authorities in the United Arab Emirates and expressing his fears of being harmed.'
