Naser Mestarihi, a pioneer in Qatari rock music, has released his debut full length LP 1987 which is now available on iTunes and Virgin Megastore outlets in Qatar. This is his second solo effort following his eponymous critically acclaimed EP released in 2010 which was the first official rock release out of Qatar. The album has received critical acclaim for attempting to put Qatari rock music on the map. It has been featured in various publications such as Rolling Stone Middle East and online music zines. 1987 and it’s first single Exodus Highway have both received positive reviews from Rolling Stone Magazine, both garnering a 3/5 stars review score. The record was launched in Dubai at the renowned live venue The Music Room with the support of popular Dubai live acts Nikotin and Kicksound. 1987 is scheduled for release in the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain within the coming months, additionally Naser will be scheduling performances in the region as well. A self-taught multi-instrumentallist, Naser played the instruments in the album. He produced the album and funded its entire production and release without the aid of a label. He has also been involved in all promotional endeavours related to his music. Naser was a winner in the Zippo Encore Middle East competition, in which three bands were selected out of hundreds of entries from the entire Middle East based on originality and quality of music. His goal is to put Qatar’s music scene on the international map and to influence resurgence in the rock scene in Doha for artists who would like to subsequently release their own music. http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/qatar/248818-qatari-rock-star-releases-album.html
